Tea Profile
Jasmine fresh flowers are often used to scent and add flavour to Green teas. It is also distilled to produce perfume and essential oil as well as used to provide a natural botanical fragrance and aroma for potpourri and teas.
Origin
Our jasmine flower buds are harvested from the mostly mountainous region of Fujian, located on the southeast coast of mainland China. The subtropical, mild and humid climate provides the perfect environment for growing jasmine plants. Jasmine tea was one of the earliest flavored teas to be exported to the west in the 1800s, and its fine flavor has been much sought after since then. Jasmine is planted in other countries, but China is still seen as the best producer of Jasmine tea. Chinese tea growers are only able to harvest this prized tea during the summer months when the jasmine fields are in bloom. The buds are handpicked during the day when they are closed. At night, when the flowers bloom, it can then be used to scent tea leaves. This creates the unique flavor and distinctive aroma of the tea.
